Microsoft gamely hints at the undertaking ahead by warning you to close down programs, save your files, and secure all animals in the zoo. Installing IE 8, at least in our tests, is an involved process, and one that will reboot your computer. This is a good time to make a phone call, brew some coffee, or begin a calisthenics routine.
